This project expanded an existing water plants’ pumping capacity by 97MGD with installation of (1) 2000KW generator and (7) – 1500 HP high service clear water pumps and all required accessories. Construction occurred in a green field location within a fenced plant with placement of the (7) 1500 HP pumps and construction of the new high service building with HVAC installation. Construction included medium voltage power distribution through existing and new cable tray infrastructure and underground duct banks and manholes, installation of approximately 8500 linear feet of MV cables from 4/0AWG up 500kcmil. Construction also included all utility interconnections and connections to existing clear wells, piping systems, control valves, and distribution headers, along with controls, communications, and placement of a 2000KVA generator.
Bath’s responsibilities included: MEP for the new high service building and new MV Substation, all building plumbing and HVAC, power feed to (7)-1500HP water pumps with VFD controls, chemical injection systems, existing electrical substation expansion, 2000KVA generator installation, 5KV and 480V power distribution, area lighting, instrumentation, 5KV and 480V motor controls and PLC /HMI controls systems. Bath sourced power from two double ended MV substations for improved reliability and design redundant controller systems. Bath also designed and programmed a SEL RTAC based power monitoring SCADA system and provided construction support, operator training and full O&M documentation on electrical and controls equipment.
