Field instruments combine sensors, actuators, intelligent signal processing, and robust communications. In-field instruments are installed close to the process or measuring points. They must be physically robust if exposed to harsh environmental conditions as well as designed in accordance with actual process condition compatibility requirements.
Field instruments are used for indicating, measuring, transmitting and controlling valves, actuators, and sensors in the field.
Bath Engineers involved in designing such systems must consider the proper use of field instrumentation along with the communication of the signal to the controller and returned to the final control element. The design of the process loop as noted above is optimized to insure the safe and optimized reliable utilization.
